Hard Wood Flooring - Huntington Station, New York

Different Types of Hardwood Flooring

When it comes to hardwood flooring, there are many different styles available. Depending on your preferences, you can choose from low-, medium-, or high-gloss finishes. While a low-gloss finish is best for less-trafficked areas, a high-gloss finish can add a touch of elegance to a more formal space.

Flooring Company

A hardwood flooring company offers a wide range of flooring materials. The flooring experts are trained in expert floor design and installation. Their goal is to make the experience of choosing and installing new floors as easy and comfortable as possible. The team will come to your home to measure the area and give you advice on the type of hardwood flooring to purchase.

Vinyl Plank Flooring

This flooring mimics the look of natural wood plank flooring very well. It also has water-resistant properties, making it perfect for bathrooms, basements, cafes, and restaurants. Commercial-grade vinyl is durable enough to handle heavy traffic. It is also easy to clean. There are a wide variety of styles and colors available for vinyl plank flooring.

Vinyl plank flooring can be installed over concrete or plywood subfloors. However, its flexibility makes it susceptible to warping, especially when exposed to direct sunlight. In order to avoid damage, you should ensure that your subfloor is smooth.

Vinyl Sheet Flooring

Vinyl Sheet Flooring is a flexible, water-resistant flooring material that comes in large, continuous sheets. It differs from vinyl planks and floor tile, which come in interlocking strips. This flooring material is also completely waterproof. It is an excellent choice for high-traffic areas. It is also durable, resistant to stains, and easy to clean.

Vinyl flooring is available in different finishes, including a no-wax and a urethane finish. The former is light, while the latter is more durable and easy to clean. Although vinyl sheet flooring is highly durable, its lifespan is still determined by the quality of the material, its manufacturing process, and how well it's installed.

Waterproof Flooring

When you are thinking about getting hardwood flooring, you may want to choose waterproof options. There are many benefits of this type of flooring, including a long lifespan. Moreover, water-resistant wood flooring can be installed anywhere in your house. It is also more authentic than other flooring types, and you can choose from a wide range of wood species, plank widths, and attractive finishes. The added benefit of waterproof flooring is peace of mind. However, waterproof hardwood flooring can be more expensive than conventional wood.

Floor Releveling

Hardwood flooring releveling involves repairing a floor's unevenness. To start the process, remove all loose nails and screws from the floor joists. Then, use a spirit level to measure the floor's levels. Mark any dips larger than 1/8" and apply floor leveling compound to them.

After applying the leveler, check the floor's levelness with a long flooring board on an edge. The surface does not need to be perfectly smooth, but it should be level within 1/8" over a 10' radius. Cracks and chips can be filled with a self-leveling cement compound or high-compressive underlayment patch. However, it is not recommended to relevel large areas of flooring. In some cases, asbestos fibers can be found on the subfloor, and this may require removal.
